Out with Lanterns...

2020 Inspiration

"I am out with lanterns looking for myself." Emily Dickinson

At the beginning of the year with the early darkness, I want to come home to the warmth and the light of Dryden Bank and stay inside. Mostly, it's my dog Morrie who forces me out into the cold dark night again but I'm usually glad for the venture. The air is always cold, sometimes crisp, sometimes damp, but it wakes me to what is all around me if I will only receive: moonlit rabbits and stars caught in the branches, the owl hooting from the boathouse, the very tallest branches swaying in the wind...

And suddenly I've found myself again.
